Launching a New Website and Fundraising Campaign!

Updated: Apr 30, 2019

All, much has happened with our cause to stop the construction of an asphalt plant next to the Cedar river and near our homes. On Monday (in honor of Earth Day) we will be launching our new website, SaveTheCedarRiver.org, and associated campaign to raise $100,000 for our upcoming battle with Lakeside Industries in court once their permits are granted, likely in early June. We are now a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, CITIZENS TO STOP THE SR169 ASPHALT PLANT LEGAL FUND, and so contributions are tax deductible.

Our goal is to raise the needed funds within 30 days so we can prepare for trial.

We believe it’s important to acknowledge the success we’ve had thus far: if not for this grass roots movement, the asphalt plant would likely have already been built a year ago. Our efforts resulted in DPER asking for a long list of documentation in support of the filing, something that almost certainly would not have happened otherwise. As a community, we should be proud of our efforts.

The funds that we have already raised have done a tremendous amount of good, enabling us to pay legal expenses, build our website, and conduct public outreach. We ask that you support this new fundraising campaign and also to attend the next community meeting on

May 4th at the Maple Valley Library at 11:00 am.

We are always looking for volunteers – if you’d like to make a difference in your community, please contact us at NoAsphalt169@gmail.com.
